Intra Operative Radiation Therapy
IORT technique (Intra-Operative Radiation Therapy) is a therapeutic approach with benefits similar to conventional external radiation therapy and with particular clinical, social and economical benefits for treatment of tumors at initial stage.
This technique is primarily performed when treating breast tumors and in other types of malignancies (retroperitoneal sarcomas, pancreatic sarcomas, gastric sarcomas and other forms of tumors), the treatment requires a multidisciplinary integrated approach.
